Joondalup City Dental has been providing dental services to the Joondalup area since 1993. We have made it our mission to build a long and trusting relationship with every patient who walks through our doors.

We make sure our patients know they are not just numbers, but valued human beings whom we treat as we would members of our own families. It is our goal to provide an extremely high level of customer service. We do this by training our staff to be approachable, professional, caring and friendly. We make it a point not to engage in the “patient-blaming” that is so common in our profession. We are here to heal you: not to judge you.

Some of our longest-standing patients came here first for emergency dentistry and liked us so much they decided to trust us with their long-term care. Others have been with us since they were children and feel so much like a part of our family that they wouldn’t think of going elsewhere.

Dr Roy Sarmidi BDSc (UWA), PGDipCD (Uni. of Melbourne – Implant Dentistry)

roy-sarmidiDr Roy Sarmidi graduated with Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia in 1995 and began work as a dentist in several Government Clinics in country WA.

In 1997, he joined Joondalup City Dental and in 1999 formed partnership with Dr Tony Strangio in Joondalup City Dental. Together with Dr Tony Strangio, he took over the ownership of Candlewood Dental Centre in 2003.

Dr Roy Sarmidi finished his postgraduate study in Implant Dentistry in 2009 from the University of Melbourne Dental School.

He is a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Periodontology, Australian Prosthodontic Society and co-founder of the Academy of Dental implantology and Oral Rehabilitation (ADI OR).

Roy’s primary interests in dentistry are advanced restorative dentistry and implant dentistry. Dr Roy Sarmidi also holds accreditation in a number of day surgeries around Perth and performs dental treatment under General Anesthesia as well as in the clinic under Intravenous Sedation.

Dr Tony Strangio BDSc (UWA), MSc (University of Frankfurt – Master Oral Implantology)

tonyDr Tony Strangio graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1993.

Tony joined Joondalup City Dental in 1994 and in 1999 formed a partnership with Dr Roy Sarmidi in Joondalup City Dental. Together with Dr Roy Sarmidi, he took over the ownership of Candlewood Dental Centre in 2003.

He first became involved in implant dentistry in 1996 at the Branemark Centre. He completed his primaries for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2006 and was awarded commendation.

Tony completed his Master’s Degree in Oral Implantology in 2013 (Germany) and currently operates a referral based practice in the field of oral and implant surgery, which he has maintained for over 10 years.

Dr Strangio has lectured extensively in the field of implant dentistry and was involved as a lecturer at the Oral Health Centre of WA from 2002-2004 in the field of exodontia. He also runs a local study club in the field of dental. His main passion is oral (dento-aveola) surgery and dental implants. Dr Strangio offers services under local anaesthetic and introvenous sedation and general anaesthetic.

Since then, he has been involved in Australasian Osseointegration Society, both in the Federal and the State level, and currently, he is serving as the President of AOS (WA branch).

Tony is a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Periodontology, Australian Prosthodontic Society and co-founder of the Academy of Dental Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation (ADI OR).

He also has been involved in several pre-launch clinical trials and the development of angulated implantology. His research interests include immediate implantology and simplification of implant techniques.

Dr Lubinka Mihailova BDSc Hons (UWA)

lubinkaDr Lubinka Mihailova graduated with honours from the University of Western Australia in 2002 and commenced her dental career in the Pilbara region of WA working for Government Dental Services. She gained a broad range of experience over 3 years treating adults and children in the townships of the Pilbara and also rural and remote aboriginal communities within the area.

Lubinka commenced private practice when she joined Joondalup City Dental in 2007. She has a gentle and compassionate approach and strives to make your dental experience as comfortable and as pleasant as possible. Lubinka enjoys all aspects of dentistry including:

  • Early detection – prevention and patient education
  • General and advanced restorative treatment – fillings, crowns, veneers, bridgework
  • Paedodontics – treating children
  • Endodontics – root canal treatment
  • Periodontics – treatment of gum disease
  • Implant restoration – fixed and remove implant prosthesis
  • Invisalign – straightening teeth with clear aligners
  • Cosmetic treatment – tooth whitening, lip fillers and wrinkle relaxers
  • Sedation therapy – dental treatment under oral sedation, nitrous gas, intravenous sedation (administered by qualified anaesthetist)

Lubinka is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority. She is constantly engaging in Continuing Dental Education courses and believes it is essential for the delivery of modern and advanced treatment to all our patients.

Dr Catalin Iacob  BDSc (UWA) MClinDent (Lond)

Dr Iacob completed his Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc) from the University of Western Australia in 1999 and has been treating patients in private practice since then. He has a strong belief in continuing education and has attended numerous national and international dental conferences and meetings on implant, restorative and aesthetic dentistry.

Dr Iacob has been involved with the University of Western Australia as a clinical demonstrator to the final year students and involved with numerous professional societies, recently having served as the Secretary to both the WA Branch (2008-2013) and Federal Branch (2011-2013) of the Australasian Osseointegration Society.

In 2016, Dr Iacob completed his postgraduate Master of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) with distinction from the prestigious King’s College in London. His efforts resulted in being invited to be on the faculty at King’s College London for the Master of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) as a tutor and marker.

Dr Iacob’s primary dental interests are in advanced oral rehabilitation and aesthetic/cosmetic dentistry including prosthodontic and implant treatment.

Dr Amy Patterson BDSc Hons (UWA)

Dr Amy PattersonDr Amy Patterson completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Western Australia and graduated with honours. She was also awarded prizes from the Australian Society of Endodontology and the Australian Society of Periodontology.

Amy is passionate about providing high quality dentistry using the safest, most up to date and holistic techniques.

Alongside this Amy prides herself on her gentle approach and finds it incredibly rewarding to help those who feel anxious when visiting a dentist. Amy practises a wide range of general dentistry with particular interest in restorative or cosmetic dentistry as well as paedodontics (treating children).

Amy is a member of the Australian Dental Association and attends numerous continuing professional development courses every year in order to keep broadening her knowledge of dentistry.

In her spare time Amy enjoys travelling, playing with her dog and spending time with her family and friends.
